Facial Surgery Cape Town

In my approach to facial rejuvenation and cosmetic improvement of the face I consider and evaluate three different factors that contribute to facial aging:  skin quality, skin laxity and volume of the facial soft tissue and underlying musculoskeletal structure. I prefer to use a combination of surgical procedures, minimally invasive and non-surgical treatments to reduce signs of aging and to enhance natural beauty. Non-surgical treatments will be discussed in the non-surgical section, but should not be seen in isolation, we use multi modality treatments in our aim of unwrapping beauty.

Upper eyelid cosmetic surgery is the second most frequent performed cosmetic facial procedure and it provides a refreshed look after a swift recovery. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty can be done as an office based procedure under local anaesthesia.

Lower lid facial surgery can be done through an incision under the eyelashes of the eyelid and if there is no necessity to remove skin it can be done from the inside of the lower eyelid with no visible scarring.

In some instances the eyebrow position needs to be addressed and it can be done surgical with endoscopically assisted forehead and eyebrow lift or with less invasive procedures.

Facelift surgery can be limited to the cheek and face region but usually includes a neck lift for more comprehensive improvement. With a surgical face and neck lift we lift the cheeks, the temples and neck area through tightening of the underlying superficial facial fascia layer (SMAS-technique). Combined face and neck lifting is done in a way which, after proper healing, results in barely visible scars located behind and in the ears.

During an isolated neck lift fat is carefully removed through a very small incision under the chin and the muscles supporting the skin of the cervical area are tightened. At the same time, a gentle liposuction can be performed to reduce unwanted fat.

With a forehead lift we can  correct tired, cross or stressed-out look, which results from sagging eyebrows, hanging or sunken eyelids, frown lines and wrinkles in the skin of the forehead.

Rhinoplasty is the most frequently performed cosmetic procedure in the face. The nose can be made smaller, larger or straighter. The tip of the nose can be reshaped and the size of the nostrils can be surgically changed to improve the overall appearance. There are new innovative techniques to do a non surgical rhinoplasty with filler or threads if the nose doesn’t need a surgical reduction.

Fat grafting has become one of the most versatile procedures in plastic and cosmetic surgery and I use it frequently in both: cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. I use the bodyjet system for liposuction and fat grafting. It’s a high tech waterassisted liposuction device that delivers purified and viable concentrate of fat cells ready for grafting.

Bat ears or prominent ears are the result of abnormalities in the cartilage framework of the ears. A bat ear repair can be performed safely from an age of 4 years. The procedure can be done under local or general anaesthesia. A small procedure can improve the shape of the ears and attach them closer to the head. The incision is behind the ear where it is unnoticeable.
