I am a world renowned plastic surgeon with an international career and an expert in my field. I am based in Cape Town with regular visits to Windhoek and Munich. We offer world-class service in surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures. It is my passion to innovate and to continuously improve medical care and quality of life for my patients. Improving self esteem and body image can be an important step towards living our full potential. My work in plastic surgery has taught me to focus on things that I can change and where I can make a difference. Modern plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine have opened up new dimensions and possibilities in aesthetic improvements. I am working in specialised niche areas in plastic surgery, both in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery as well as in non surgical therapies and this has enabled me to integrate, improve and combine different techniques and treatments. I firmly believe in a multi modality approach to achieve overall best results.
After my residency in plastic surgery at Tygerberg Hospital, in Cape Town, I completed several distinguished fellowships in craniofacial surgery and cosmetic surgery in Paris and Dallas. Then I worked in an acclaimed center of excellence for treatment of craniosynostosis in Munich. In 2006 I returned to South Africa as Professor and chairman of the division of plastic surgery at the University of Stellenbosch and Tygerberg Hospital. During this period I developed newer and less invasive techniques for the treatment of children with craniofacial deformities. I built the division of plastic surgery into a centre of excellence for breast reconstruction based on a combined multidisciplinary approach. Our unit advanced to a leading centre in microsurgery and free tissue transfer. This was complemented by the inception of a microsurgery lab offering microsurgery training and has culminated in my integral role as microsurgeon in the worlds first successful penile transplant that was performed at Tygerberg Hospital in December 2014. I am a pioneer and one of the first in South Africa to apply adipose derived stem cells in cell based therapy. In 2016 I decided to take up new challenges in an international career and to devote more time developing a private plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine center. Here we offer next level and cutting edge aesthetic treatments and technology with a specialist driven approach. I am still attached to the division of plastic surgery at Stellenbosch University as an extraordinary associate Professor and at the craniofacial unit at Tygerberg Hospital as a part time pro bono consultant.
Following a modern and holistic approach we offer a variety of services at our plastic surgery center, all aimed either alone or in combination to create and preserve an attractive and youthful look. This includes state of the art cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures, minimally invasive procedures, non-surgical cosmetic treatments and latest developments in regenerative medicine which is sometimes coined as the “next revolution in medicine”.
